Geography
In SASM, pupils are taught that geography is the ‘why, where and how things happen around the world’. Students are encouraged to learn through curiosity, inspiration and the explicit, expert teaching of human and physical geography. Throughout their time in SASM, pupils are taught to make links between events and phenomena around the world, whilst making it relevant to them as well as establishing threads, revisiting topics such as mountains and rivers, which enables them to deepen their knowledge and understanding. They are engaged in a variety of ways including physical map/atlas work, interactive geographical applications and quizzes, exposure to language, cultural differences and similarities, cross-curricular links, curriculum clubs as well as trips and visits.
