At St Andrew’s and St Mark’s CofE Junior School, we believe that caring for our planet is a vital part of living “life in all its fullness” (John 10:10). Our approach to climate action is rooted in our Christian values, our commitment to sustainability, and the voices of our pupils, who are passionate about protecting the world they will inherit.
We are proud to be a school that doesn’t just talk about climate issues — we take meaningful steps together. From our pupil-led Eco-Refill shop, which has already saved over 80 plastic bottles, to our Sustainability Curriculum, air quality work with School Air quality monitoring for Health and Education (SAMHE), and growing greener spaces through our Gold Woodward Trust Award work, climate responsibility is woven into daily school life.
Our Climate Action Plan sets out clear objectives across energy use, waste, transport, water, biodiversity, and curriculum. We’re combining real data with pupil creativity, community support, and curriculum links to ensure that every child understands their role as a steward of creation.
This is just the beginning. Together with our staff, governors, families, and wider community, we’re creating a culture of sustainability that helps our pupils thrive — now and for the future.

Sustainability - a Fullness Focus
Following our sustainability focus, we are delighted to share some excellent work from pupils across the school. Pupils learned about how to support the environment through active travel and be considerate sustainable travellers:
Our own Transport for London-style considerate travel behaviour posters (Gloria - 6G)
How to create a clean air future (Salma - 6G)
Which factors affect air quality? (Florence - 5J)
How to create a clean air future (Esther - 5L)
