What is the SASM PTA?

The SASM PTA is a charity fundraising committee run by parents of children in the school and a staff representative. The PTA is a link between home and school, brings staff, parents, carers and children together socially supporting the school. If your child is at SASM, it's your PTA.

All parents automatically become members of the SASM PTA when their child joins the school. The social and fundraising events organised by our parents and staff continue to provide money for much needed facilities and resources for the children.

What do we do?

The PTA hold three main annual events at school. At Christmas our SASMFestivities event is held during the school day so every child can attend with parents invited later. Our summer festival SASMFest also takes place during the school day and includes many fun games, food, and a main stage for acts. The third event is an end of year celebration which takes place in the playground and is for the whole family. In addition, there are also class cake sales, and Christmas tree sales during weekends in December from our staff car park.

We have a wonderful team of parents that work hard to bring fun events to the children to raise much needed funds for school.

We aim to raise around 10k per year, which covers the cost of all enrichment activities across the school for all children to enjoy. These include story telling theatre groups, workshops, local visits for humanities and science topics, The Learning Dome, orienteering, museum trips and additional extras such as the recent revamping of reading corners with new books, cushions, and bean bags. SASM school don't ask for trip and visit donations as it's all funded by the PTA.

During the pandemic our PTA funded the leavers hoodies for our year 6 pupils who missed out on their end of year SAT’s, their leavers play and their long awaited residential trip to the Isle of Wight due to to school closure. They were delighted to be given their hoodies to wear for their last half term at SASM.

How can you help?

The success of the PTA depends entirely on the support of parents, carers and staff of the school. We appreciate any assistance. Please email our team if you can offer your help we won't demand much of your time, we all work and juggle our lives, but many hands make light work.

Seymours Estate Agents boards. We send a form requesting a board be placed outside your home for two weeks around the time of our events. We have a great relationship with John Flynn at the Surbiton branch of Seymours who have been sponsoring our events since they opened. They kindly donate £10 for every board displayed.
