Our writing aims:
A passion for writing is a springboard for life-long learning. Our writing curriculum has three aims:
Promote engagement, excitement and attainment in English through immersion in high quality texts
To enjoy writing for a range of audiences and purposes.
Use appropriate spelling, grammar and punctuation in their writing.
Use a neat and legible cursive script when writing at speed.
How is writing taught?
The Power of Reading has been used as a springboard for a bespoke curriculum. Here are the key texts that form the basis of our writing lessons.
Our writing journey (2).pdfVarious teaching approaches are implemented including drama, role play, hot seating, writing in role, poetry, art and response to illustration. The texts studied allow for horizontal links to be made between foundation subjects, often building upon children’s prior knowledge in science and humanities.
